Is Camp Notre Dame associated with any religious group?
The Camp has maintained its affiliation with the Catholic Diocese of Erie but is a separate non-profit entity whose Catholic/Christian mission serves children of all faiths.
Can you accommodate campers with food allergies?
Camp Notre Dame is a nut-free facility. To ensure the safety and well-being of all campers, families are asked not to send any food items or snacks containing nuts. Parents or guardians of campers with significant food allergies or dietary restrictions should contact the Camp Office prior to the start of their child’s session to discuss specific needs and available accommodations.Families of campers with food allergies will receive a weekly menu, including ingredient information, in advance of their session. When necessary, families may be asked to provide appropriate substitute foods to accommodate individual dietary requirements. Our kitchen staff have extensive experience working with food allergies and dietary sensitivities and are committed to providing a safe dining environment for all campers. Camp Notre Dame will work closely with families to address individual needs and support a positive camp experience.
What is the best way to communicate with my child while they are at camp?
Campers LOVE snail-mail! You can drop off letters or care packages at the front office, or mail items directly. We are happy to make sure it is delivered during the week. Please remember that letters usually take 2-3 days to arrive, and that all snacks must be nut free. Phone calls are unavailable and only limited to administration and staff for need-based, or emergency purposes only.

What if my child needs medical attention?
Camp has a full-time resident nurse on the premises during your child’s week at camp. Our staff is CPR certified and trained for medical emergencies. Parents will be contacted by the CND nurse if warranted, or additional attention and information is needed.
What steps can families take to help prevent tick bites and tick-borne illnesses while at Camp Notre Dame?
Camp Notre Dame encourages families to take preventative measures to reduce the risk of tick bites. Before arriving at camp, parents may wish to apply or pack an EPA-registered insect repellent and send campers with appropriate outdoor clothing, including closed-toe shoes, long socks, and lightweight long sleeved shirts and pants for wooded activities.Parents should educate their child on the importance of reporting any tick found on their body. Camp staff are trained to have campers perform daily checks. Our on-site nurse is available for tick removal and preservation if needed. Camp Notre Dame follows guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding tick awareness, prevention, and response. Families with additional questions or concerns are encouraged to contact the Camp Office prior to their child’s session.

Can campers have cell phones while at camp?
Please do not send your child to camp with a cell phone. We encourage campers to build healthy relationships with their bunkmates and experience the wonder of camp with minimal technology.
I did not receive a confirmation of attendance from the camp office. What should I do?
If you did not receive a confirmation form and “what to bring” list, please check your spam folder or email office@campnotredame.com, and we will resend. The required health form is also available for download here on our website under “brochures and forms”.
Are campers required to participate in religious activities?
Campers are invited to pray before meals and bedtime and attend a Catholic Mass once during the week, but are not required to participate.
What if my child gets homesick?
Homesickness is a normal part of many of our campers’ first “away-from-home” experiences. Our staff is well-trained to deal with homesick children and employs a variety of coping methods and strategies. For more information on what you can do to help alleviate homesickness before you arrive, we recommend reviewing this information from the American Camp Association.
Do you have a lost and found?
We do! We strongly encourage families to label all of their belongings and not to send valuable or sentimental items with their child to camp. If something was left behind, please email office@campnotredame.com or stop by during our posted office hours to pick it up. All items will be held until the end of our summer sessions (the week after week 7). All unclaimed items after this date will be donated. We are not able to coordinate special pick-ups or shipments.
