Executive Director

Position Description

Annual Salary: $52,000 – Full-Time
Start Date: Spring 2025

Camp Notre Dame, Inc., is looking for an Executive Director. The Executive Director provides effective leadership and oversees the administration, programs, and strategic planning of Camp Notre Dame, Inc. Other responsibilities include overseeing the physical plant, marketing and development, and community outreach.

Sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Erie and grounded in Christian values and virtues, Camp Notre Dame, Inc. is dedicated to the continuing growth of youth and family. The successful candidate will be responsible for broadening Camp Notre Dame, Inc.’s reach and programming.

General Responsibilities

1. Board Governance: Works with the Board of Directors to fulfill Camp Notre Dame, Inc.’s mission.

  • Directly accountable to the Board of Directors of Camp Notre Dame, Inc.
  • Collaborates with the Board of Directors to develop strategic planning, enhance the corporation’s fiscal health, and promote Camp Notre Dame, Inc.’s Mission.
  • Implements operational policies determined by the Board of Directors regarding the general management and control of Camp Notre Dame, Inc.’s ordinary business and implementing policies.
  • Acts as the representative of the Corporation in diocesan, state, and national human service activities.

2. Fiscal Management and Reporting ensures Camp Notre Dame, Inc.’s financial health by securing and developing resources that adequately support its mission and work.

  • Responsible for maintaining the financial integrity of Camp Notre Dame, Inc., including working with the Board of Directors to prepare the annual budgets, regularly submitting financial statements, and ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal tax regulations.
  • Responsible for the fiscal management of Camp Notre Dame, Inc.
  • Responsible for working with the Board of Directors to identify, engage, evaluate, solicit, recognize, and steward donors throughout the year, including (but not limited to) Annual Fund, Erie Gives, and/or Foundation requests.

3. Programming and Strategic Planning: Works with the Board of Directors to ensure through strategic planning that Camp Notre Dame, Inc. fulfills its mission through its current programming and the development of new initiatives.

  • Responsible for researching, developing, implementing, and maintaining programming that supports the mission of Camp Notre Dame, Inc.
  • Responsible for developing strategic plans with the Board of Directors that ensure Camp Notre Dame, Inc.’s mission into the future.
  • Responsible for keeping the Board of Directors informed of the programs of the Corporation.

4. Operational Oversight: Ensures that Camp Notre Dame, Inc.’s daily operations are properly resourced and functional.

  • Responsible for coordinating the work of the staff of the Corporation.
  • Responsible for providing employment, supervision, direction, and training for the Corporation’s staff.
  • Responsible for providing professional leadership to and evaluating the Corporation’s employees.
  • Responsible for hiring and dismissing the staff of the Corporation.
  • Responsible for keeping the Board of Directors informed of the operations of the Corporation.
  • Responsible for maintaining all regulatory certificates and licenses.

Job Duties

  • Managing cash flow and assisting with budget planning
  • Supervising Camp Notre Dame, Inc.’s daily activities
  • Supervising Camp Notre Dame, Inc.’s staff
  • Retaining staff and cultivating a positive organizational culture
  • Reviewing and approving contracts
  • Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Combination of formal education and experience working with children and youth
  • Excellent leadership and management skills
  • Experience in the non-profit sector
  • Familiarity with fundraising and donor cultivation
  • Budget and finance management skills
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to multitask and stay organized
  • Personability and enthusiasm for being the public face of the organization
  • A positive mindset and dedication to the organization’s core values
  • A basic understanding of building and grounds maintenance
  • Ability to cultivate and work with volunteers
  • Proof of child welfare and criminal history clearances required for working with children

Physical Capabilities and Requirements

  • This position entails light to moderate physical demands in the execution of routine tasks. The ability to work independently, possess basic grasping, fine motor, and manipulation skills, and exhibit general coordination is essential. Responsibilities may include operating vehicles (i.e., tractors) and machinery (i.e., general power tools and equipment) or willingness to be trained.
